Minimum Requirements

Overseas Hiring:

Candidates currently outside of Qatar.

Education:

Fulltime Studies Bachelor’s  degree in Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Technology, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Health Sciences, or Nursing.

Licensing:

Must have a valid license to practice from country of origin.

Must be eligible for registration and licensing in the State of Qatar.

Credentialing from CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International is highly preferred. 

Essential Experience:

Minimum 5 years' experience in ECG Technology performing ECG's, Treadmill Stress Tests, Holter Monitoring, etc.

 

Specification

 The ECG Technologist is a vital member of the clinical team, responsible for conducting a range of diagnostic cardiac procedures including standard electrocardiograms (ECGs), Holter monitoring, and treadmill stress tests.

The role requires a combination of technical skill, patient care, and knowledge of cardiac rhythms to ensure high-quality results that support clinical diagnosis.

The technologist operates under the supervision of medical or nursing leadership and contributes to the safe, effective delivery of patient-centered cardiac diagnostics. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for various cardiographic procedures such as: Electrocardiograms (ECGs), Treadmill Stress Tests, Holter Monitoring, etc.
  • Accurately attach electrodes to patients and ensure correct lead placement based on testing requirements.
  • Move electrodes as needed to record electromotive variations across different areas of the heart.
  • Enter and manage patient information in the diagnostic computer systems with attention to accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Operate ECG and monitoring equipment, initiate recordings, and monitor test progress.
  • Identify and document abnormal patterns, including basic arrhythmias.
  • Annotate tracings or input markers to indicate electrode positions.
  • Replenish machine supplies (e.g., paper, ink) and report technical issues promptly.
  • Forward completed test results to the attending physician for review and interpretation.
  • Maintain cleanliness, functionality, and readiness of all cardiographic equipment.
  • Provide support to patients during procedures and explain processes as needed to ensure comfort and cooperation.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervising staff.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Proficient in operating ECG machines, Holter systems, and stress test equipment.
  • Solid understanding of basic cardiac arrhythmias and the ability to recognize irregular patterns.
  • Competent in using patient data entry software and managing electronic health records.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Effective communication skills with both patients and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to work within structured departmental procedures under supervision.

 

Work Environment:

  • Works in outpatient, inpatient, or specialized cardiology settings.
  • Functions under standardized clinical routines with supervision from medical or nursing leadership.
  • Collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to facilitate comprehensive cardiac care.
